Tips To Help Remove Stains From Your Carpet

Fall is here, and with that comes some of your favorite items, such as pumpkin, pumpkin spice lattes, and caramel apples. Unfortunately though, if any of these items end up on your carpet, a stain can be left behind. Learning how to remove stains before they set in can be the key to ensuring your carpet remains in good condition. Here are a few tips to help you remove stains from your carpet that can occur during the fall months.

Removing Pumpkin Stains From a Carpet

If you were carving pumpkin and pumpkin guts fell on your carpet, the juice and enzymes in the pumpkin can leave a stain behind. The easiest way to remove pumpkin from your carpet is to mix a couple of drops of your preferred liquid dishwashing soap with warm water. Blot at the stain until the stain lifts. Once the stain lifts, dab at the area with a water-dampened cloth to lift away soap residue.

Lifting Coffee Stains From Carpeting

Coffee can be tough to remove from carpeting, as coffee actually dyes your carpet. After you have spilled coffee on your carpet, grab an old towel or paper towels, and soak up as much of the liquid as possible. From there, combine one tablespoon of white vinegar, one tablespoon of liquid dish soap, and two cups of warm water to create a carpet-cleaning mixture. Take a soft cloth and dip it in the cleaning mixture and start dabbing at the stain, starting from the outside of the stain, working your way inward. Continue this process until the stain lifts.

Eliminating Caramel Stains From Your Carpet

If caramel fell on your carpet while making caramel apples, you first need to remove the caramel. Use a butter knife to separate the caramel from your carpet. From there, blot at the stain with a combination of warm water and liquid dish soap. Once you have removed as much of the stain as you can, mix one part white vinegar with three parts water and put the mixture in a spray bottle. Spray the stain and then use a towel or paper towel to blot up the mixture. As you blot, the caramel stain should start to lift from your carpet.

It is important to attempt to lift a stain as soon as you notice it. This may help you to get rid of the stain before it sets. If you are struggling to get rid of a stain on your own, you should call in a professional carpet cleaner. They have commercial cleaning solutions and tools to help lift nearly every type of stain, including those left behind by fall objects. Reach out to a carpet cleaner as quickly as possible upon noticing a stain on your carpet.
