House Cleaning Tips To Keep Up With Your Housekeeping

It's hard to juggle a work and home balance. Being gone at work all day, coming home to try and spend time with your family, and then having to also worry about the cooking and cleaning of your home. It can become quite a juggling act, and in the end, your housekeeping gets neglected - dishes pile up, laundry seems to be spilling out of the laundry baskets, and the dust is so thick you can write your name in it. Keeping up with the housework can be a difficult thing to do, so hiring a cleaning service may be a great idea for you. If hiring a service isn't in the budget right now though, follow the tips below to help you keep up with the housework:

Wash Dishes Immediately

Take the time to do your dishes right after a meal, rather than letting them sit. If you have a dishwasher, give them a quick rinse and then pile them into the dishwasher. Allowing them to sit in the sink without being rinsed or washed makes it even more difficult and time-consuming to wash them later after the food has hardened. Allow pots and pans with baked-on food to soak to help make them easier to clean as well.

Use Sorting Laundry Baskets

Sort your laundry in different laundry baskets to help you with laundry. Rather than sorting through one giant basket looking for all of your whites or towels you can use different baskets or hampers to help keep you better organized. Use one for whites, one for colors and another for either towels or for other items such as work clothing that may need to be washed differently.

Pick Up Daily

Pick up everyday areas such as the living room, den, dining room, and kitchen. Put pillows back on the couch and fold blankets or throws. Pick up items that don't belong in that room. Recruit the family for help with this task, especially if the items belong to them. Have your children put their own toys, clothing and other belongings away.

Take One Day Per Week

Give yourself one day per week to vacuum and dust. Make this day your cleaning day and work it into your schedule, so you are more apt to do the work. Take just one or two hours on this day to do the dusting, vacuuming, and wiping down other surfaces or cleaning the bathroom(s).

Keeping up with the housekeeping in your home can be a difficult task to juggle along with the other tasks you have in your life. If you can work it into your budget, hire a residential cleaning service to do this work for you so you can free up more time for your family and for yourself.
